TARYN OLESON-YELLE

Ballroom Instructor

Taryn grew up dancing ballet in southeast Wisconsin where she fell in love with music, movement, and the outdoors. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Policy and Planning from the University of Wisconsin Green Bay and is a Community/Land Use Planner for R&M Consultants, Inc. here in Anchorage, where she has worked since 2014 when Alaska became home. Taryn began ballroom dancing her freshman year of college with the schools’ ballroom dance club, under the instruction of Janet Gollnick, former Midwest Champion and nationally ranked competitor. Gollnick brought Taryn into her studio, DanceSport of Green Bay, and trained her from 2010-2014 where she partnered with Rane Cegelski.

Taryn has placed and earned local titles in state competitions, successfully competing in amateur American Smooth and Rhythm and International Standard and Latin. While in Green Bay, Taryn was a Pro-Dancer as part of a regional fundraiser Dancing With Our Stars, benefiting the American Red Cross, for three years where she choreographed, taught and performed with local celebrities. She teaches adult private and group classes with Alaska Ballroom Instructors and is excited to be part of the Studio 49 family, sharing her passion for the style.
