HEATHER MCEWEN

Ballet Instructor

Heather received her early dance training from the late Steve Primis in Anchorage, AK. She went on to graduate from the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy as a scholarship student. She earned her BA in dance from SUNY Purchase in New York and started her professional career in NYC shortly after. She was a principal dancer in numerous companies including Connecticut Ballet, Ballet New York, Eglevsky Ballet, Rebecca Kelly and Anglo American Ballet. Her 12 year career in NYC as a  professional dancer gave her the privilege of working with many outstanding dancers, teachers and choreographers from all over the world.

She has always had a love and passion for teaching dance as well as choreographing for the last three decades. She enjoys the aspects of teaching all ages and levels and was recently certified in Progressing Ballet Technique. Upon returning to Alaska in 2008 she has been on the faculty at ADT and Eagle River Ballet and is thrilled to be teaching here at Studio 49.
