Owner/Instructor Mikal Preston:

Mikal has been dancing in Tap, Jazz, Acrobatics, Lyrical and ballet since the age of 3. She began Hip Hop dancing in the mid 80's when it came into the mainstream dance world. Mikal also has 6 years of gymnastics under her belt.

Mikal began teaching at the age of 13 and decided at that moment to make it her life. Her passion for dance, love for her students and her explosive and inspiring teaching techniques create a fun learning environment for all ages. A positive, happy learning atmosphere is a main goal of Mikal's.

Assistant Teacher: Kristine Kintz:

Kristine has been dancing in Tap, Jazz, Acrobatics, Ballet, Lyrical and Hip Hop for 16 years, and is a member of The Studio 49 Company. She began teaching for Studio 49 when it opened in 2005. Kristine is Miss Studio 49 2007, and is Mikal's main assistant at Studio 49. Besides being a teacher, Kristine is also an Employee at the Arc of Anchorage, helping with handicap individuals.  Kristine is a graduate of UAA. Her amazing talent and bubbly personality make her a great role model for the dancers of Studio 49.

Student Teacher: Megan Davis:

Megan is a 2010 graduate of Service High School, and has been teaching for Studio 49 for four years. She has been studying dance in Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical and Acrobatics for 16 years, is a member of the Studio 49 Company, and is the current Miss Studio 49 2010.  Megan's caring and positive energy, and extreme talent make her a wonderful asset to the teaching staff of Studio 49.

Student Teacher: Stefani Chace:

Stefani is an 8th grader at Central Middle School focusing hard on her academics.  Stefani has been dancing Tap Jazz Hip Hop Acrobatics and Lyrical for 7 years and began her student teaching at Studio 49 in June of 2010.  Stefani is a member of the Intermediate Company at Studio 49 and was Junior Miss Studio 49 2009. Stefani loves working with children and kids seem to be drawn to her kind generous spirit.

Student Teacher: Hannah Stark:

Hannah Is a freshman at South Anchorage High School, and has studied Tap, Acrobatics, Hip Hop, Lyrical and Jazz for 6 years.  Assisting for 6 months, Hannah is the newest member of our teaching staff at Studio 49.  Hannah is a member of the Studio 49 Senior Company and an amazing up and coming talent.  Her kind heart and outgoing personality make her a great assistant for Studio 49.

Student Assistant: Sage DeMallie:

Sage is a 7th grader at Mears Middle school and has been student assisting for one year.  Sage loves working with children and is very patient and positive.  Sage has been dancing Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Acrobatics and Lyrical for 9 years and is a member of the Intermediate Senior Company at Studio 49.

Student Assistant: Devon Stanford:

Devon is a Freshman at West High School and is just starting her student teaching at Studio 49.  Devon loves working with children and is a natural at teaching.  Devon has been dancing Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Acrobatics and Lyrical at Studio 49 for 5 years and is a member of the Intermediate Senior Company at Studio 49.
